My path to art has not been a straight line. After an earlier career in hairdressing and raising two children, I returned to drawing through night classes, then formal study in illustration.
That return gave me the space to develop my creative practice and, eventually, to move from commercial illustration towards the more personal images that now find their way onto my canvases.
Following the image
Yoga and meditation have become an important influence on my work. Images arise in quiet moments and dreams; I begin directly on the canvas and allow the painting to evolve, trusting the process as it unfolds.
Nature, symbolism and the inner world meet in these works. Alongside painting, I continue to explore illustration and share the pleasure of making art through my classes at The Glass Room Gallery.
